Community Guidelines

Last Updated:

Frogbook is run by the people who use it. These guidelines describe how we look after the space and each other. They’re short on purpose, so please read them all.

1. Who this space is for

  • Anyone who loves Hampshire is welcome: alumni, former faculty and staff, families, friends of the college. You don’t need a formal connection.
  • Be yourself. Don’t pretend to be another person, a Hampshire office, or a Frogbook volunteer.
  • One account per person.

2. Treat each other with care

  • Argue with ideas, not with people. Disagreement is fine. Contempt isn’t.
  • No harassment, threats, slurs, or content that demeans people for their race, ethnicity, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, caste, nationality or class.
  • Use the names and pronouns people go by now.
  • If someone asks you to stop contacting them, stop. That applies to DMs as well as public posts.

3. Privacy and consent

  • Never share anyone’s personal information: addresses, phone numbers, workplaces, private social accounts.
  • Don’t screenshot or repost member posts, DMs or member-only content outside Frogbook without the author’s permission.
  • Never out anyone, whether that’s their gender identity, sexuality, immigration status, health, or anything else they haven’t made public themselves.
  • Photos that show identifiable people need those people’s consent. If someone asks for an image of themselves to come down, it comes down.

4. Talking about Hampshire and the closure

  • Grief, anger, nostalgia and criticism are all welcome here.
  • Criticize decisions and institutions as much as you like. Don’t target or harass individual staff, faculty or students, whatever role they played.
  • Don’t post confidential institutional documents unless you have the right to share them.

5. Contributing to the archive (JBL)

  • Only submit work you created or have permission to share, and credit your collaborators.
  • Describe items honestly: dates, names, context. If you’re unsure of something, say so in the description.
  • Don’t submit AI-generated or altered material as if it were original archival material.
  • We honor takedown requests from creators and from the people who appear in items.

6. Hard conversations

  • Add a content note to posts about violence, abuse, suicide or other heavy subjects.
  • You must not dehumanize groups of people or call for violence against anyone.

7. Promotion and money

  • Share your work, your projects and your job openings in the spaces set aside for them. Don’t post the same thing everywhere.
  • No spam, MLMs, or crypto or investment pitches.
  • Frogbook volunteers will never DM you asking for money, passwords or payment details. Report anyone who does.
  • Certain Financial records are visible to members only. Please don’t repost them publicly.

8. Reporting and what happens next

  • Use the report button or email support@frogbook.net.
  • Responses usually escalate in this order: a friendly reminder, then content removal, then a temporary suspension, then removal from Frogbook.
  • Serious violations, like doxxing, threats or outing someone, can lead to immediate removal and reporting to legal enforcement.
  • You can appeal a decision. Appeals are reviewed by someone who wasn’t involved in the original call.
